Numerous stolen items were found in a hotel room on the far north end of Colorado Springs, police announced Sunday.
Officers were patrolling the area of I-25 and Voyager Parkway shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in an attempt to locate suspects involved in burglaries and motor vehicle thefts, along with other crimes. A woman was spotted walking near the Walmart on 8250 Razorback, and contacted by police.
Police say the woman claimed to have left the nearby Howard Johnson Inn after getting in an argument with her boyfriend and mother, but gave phony identification information. Officers were called to the Howard Johnson Inn to determine who the woman was.
Officers were let into room 425, where they say they saw several unopened electronic devices lying in plain sight, with anti-theft devices removed and lying on the bed.
Police arrested Sarah Smith and Jessica Otero. An investigation is ongoing.
