Colorado Springs Utilities is now among a handful of utility providers across the country that have been recognized by the American Public Power Association for outstanding service and safety.
The company was awarded the "Diamond Level Reliable Public Power Provider Designation." It's the highest designation given by the APPA, and only 23 utility companies have been awarded it.
The group looks at four areas when considering companies for the award. They are safety, reliability, work force development and system improvement. Springs Utilities earned a 98 percent overall.
In a news release, Colorado Springs Utilities CEO Jerry Forte said:
“This recognition puts Colorado Springs Utilities among the most reliable power providers in the nation... It’s an honor to receive the highest designation and a testament to the efforts of our employees who help deliver high-quality, dependable electric services to our customers.”
