Colorado Springs Police are investigating a report of a woman being approached by a police impersonator.

This happened on Tuesday night on Cascade near Kiowa in downtown Colorado Springs.

The woman told police she was in her vehicle in a parking lot when a man in a white vehicle pulled up behind her.

He flashed a fake badge and took off when she refused to cooperate, she said.

The vehicle is described as a white Dodge Durango and the victim told police he had a siren.

There may have also been a woman in the car with the suspect. Police have not released a description.

Officers tell 11 News that you can call 911 to verify the badge number of any police officer if you are unsure.
