Social Media Used To Help Track Down Suspect

11 News is learning exactly how police tracked down a Fort Carson soldier accused of sex assault.

Springs police say they were able to use Instagram to track down Felicion Charles, 22.

Court papers say a stranger broke into a woman’s apartment on the southwest side of Colorado Springs. He allegedly raped the woman, then stole an iPad, as well as other items from her home. A few days later, the victim spotted some new pictures on her husband’s Instagram. Police figured out the pictures were taken with the stolen iPad and linked it to an Instagram account.

Charles was arrested a few days ago. Police say they found sunglasses at the scene, left behind by the suspect. The DNA reportedly belonged to Charles. He is now facing sex assault charges.

He is being held on a $501,000 bond.
