Springs Police Kept Busy Halloween Night

After a busy Halloween night, an exhausted Colorado Springs Police Department likely feels they ended up on the "trick" side of "Trick-or-Treat."

At its busiest point overnight, officers were handling 70 different call overnight.

For comparison to the typical night, one officer told 11 News that normally at 3 a.m., police will be working on three separate calls. At 3 a.m. Thursday, police were working on 30 separate calls.

Despite the enormous call volume, police say the majority of the calls weren't too serious, mostly involving family arguments. One call regarded a child's Halloween candy being stolen.

There were several DUI arrests, although as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, police are still trying to get the exact numbers. There was at least one drunk driving arrest in every area of town overnight.
