A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
The man operating the crane when a scheduled demolishment took a deadly turn has turned himself in one day after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Authorities say a blood test found evidence of marijuana and a prescription pain killer in 42-year-old Sean Benschop's system. Benschop, a heavy equipment operator, was reportedly operating the crane when a wall collapsed onto a Salvation Army thrift store Wednesday, killing six and injuring 14. The wall was part of a building scheduled to be torn down.
Rescue workers worked into the night sifting through rubble, trying to find survivors. The last survivor was pulled out 13 hours after the building collapsed.
Benschop faces six counts of involuntary manslaughter and 13 counts of recklessly endangering another person. Benschop turned himself in Saturday.
