The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)
Updated: 05/20/2013 - Two weekends left to catch one great show!
The snow plows have begun the snow removal process on city streets in Colorado Springs and greater El Paso County.
According to the city website, plows are tackling the primary routes first, which are major roads with high volume of traffic or hospital routes. Secondary routes, which include collector streets and streets with school access, will be plowed after primary routes are completed.
The city says that primary routes can take up to six hours to clear in large events. Snow crews began working at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Streets Division will not respond to residential streets unless six inches have accumulated, and primary and secondary roads have been cleared.
In El Paso County, 33 plow trucks have been dispatched since 5:30 a.m. The plows are applying anti-skid as needed on priority 1 and 2 roads, as well as at intersections. Motor graders may be called in for gravel roads later Sunday if conditions require it.
A spokesman for the county says there has been snow accumulation primarily in the northern and eastern sides.
