Firefighters are investigating several small fires that were started along the side of the road in Falcon Wednesday.
The fires, which were started on Woodmen between Marksheffel and Meridian in Falcon, were small enough that passerbys were able to stomp them out quickly.
Firefighters say that even though this June has seen more moisture than the previous two--both of which saw significant wildfire activity statewide--the area is still at risk for fires.
"Even though we've had a lot of rain it's still dry enough to start a grass fire, and start a fire that could potentially grow into a bigger one," Falcon Fire Protection District Division Fire Chief Curtis Kauffman said.
It could take a few days for fire investigators to figure out how the fires started and whether they were started on accident or not.
