Increasing clouds and falling temperatures can be expected this afternoon, as a storm system approaches from the west. Rain and snow showers will develop along and west of I-25 by mid-afternoon, gradually spreading to the south and southeast this evening and overnight. Multiple crashes left traffic at a standstill Monday morning north of Monument, particularly in the northbound lanes.
According to Colorado State Patrol, there were at least four crashes around 8 a.m. between Monument Hill and Larkspur. None were reported as serious, but snarled traffic for miles in the northbound lanes.
Southbound I-25 was also backed up around the same time starting in Castle Rock because of a crash near Tomah Road.
