Fight Between Relatives Ends With Shot Fired

A fight between a woman and her brother-in-law escalated to the point that the woman grabbed a gun and a shot was fired, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says the weapon went off when the brother-in-law pushed the gun away.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Rachel Thompson. She's charged with menacing, reckless endangerment, and child abuse- because there was an 11-month-old child was also inside the home at the time.

SWAT was called in when the woman reportedly refused to come out of the home. A standoff resulted until the woman came out and gave herself up.

No one was hurt.
