After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. A small grass fire on the Air Force Academy has been put out, a spokesman with the Academy confirms to 11 News.
The fire was reported at 12:41 p.m. in an area between Douglass Valley Elementary School and baseball field on the south side of the Academy.
Additional fire units were originally called to the scene, but were called off after Academy firefighters got the blaze under control. The fire burned 50 meters, and did not impact any structures.
Drivers on I-25 reported seeing smoke from the Academy while the fire was burning.
