He popped the question and she said “yes” at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. A local pair of high school sweethearts got engaged Saturday.
“I do have one more question: you will marry me?” asked Tyler Hainley. His girlfriend immediately responded, with a big smile on her face, “Yes!”
This pair of high school sweethearts got engaged while on a personal tour of the penguin exhibit at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
Not only do they both love animals, but 19-year-old Tyler picked the penguins because like humans, they choose partners for life. They even wear matching bands, like wedding bands.
Tyler and 18-year-old Alex Suits have been together for three years. They met at the Classical Academy in Colorado Springs.
They have both been waiting for this moment.
"I feel relieved and just overjoyed because I've been waiting for quite a while to do it,” said Tyler.
“Happiness, I’ve been waiting to marry him since I met him,” said Alex.
Not only was this a special surprise but the engagement ring is special. The gold band was Tyler’s great-grandmother’s ring and the diamond belonged to Alex’s grandma.
