Colorado Springs police are warning the community about a sexually violent predator who has just been released from prison and is now living in a local park.

Daniel Lawrence Murphy was convicted of first-degree sex abuse in 2000 in New York state.

He also has been convicted of harassment, forcible touching and failure to register as a sex offender.

Murphy is described as a white man, 38 years old, 5-foot-5 and 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Murphy is homeless, and currently lives in America the Beautiful Park off Cimarron and I-25, near downtown Springs. The park is also the site of the popular Pikes Peak Greenway trail, which runs along the west border of the park, and the Midland Trail, which intersects at the north end.
