Continuing to track rain/snow showers throughout southeast Colorado this morning as wet, gloomy and cool conditions continue. If you are hitting the roads in the higher elevation (Teller/Fremont/Custer/ Monument) make sure you allow a little extra time as some roads may be a little snow covered. Wet pavement remains everywhere else. We'll see rain/snow showers continue for most of our Monday, clearing out before midnight. Head on over to the "Weather" tab for a full look at the week ahead.
Colorado State Patrol says a 56-year-old man has died in a crash on Powers in Colorado Springs.
State Patrol first received word of a wrong-way driver about a mile south of the Springs Airport Monday afternoon. Moments later, troopers were informed that the vehicle had crashed.
Based on the investigation, State Patrol believes that driver Ben Buschman of Colorado Springs crashed after overcorrecting and rolling off-road into an embankment.
Buschman was reportedly driving south on northbound Powers near Grinnell when he first started started going off the road. State Patrol says that when he tried to right his vehicle, it caused him to travel across the road and go off the other side.
Buschman was not wearing his seat belt at the time and was ejected. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
State Patrol is investigating to see whether alcohol played a factor in the crash.
