Crash Causes Big Backups
Crews have reopened all lanes of southbound I-25 south of Bijou after an earlier crash. It took five hours to clean up the debris of an accident involving a semi-truck carrying hay.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The semi was hauling hay, which fell off and hit another car. Some gasoline was also spilled from the semi.
Traffic was slowed in both directions while police and emergency personnel were on scene.
There were no injuries in the crash.
11 News has learned the driver was ticketed for careless driving in relation to speed.
Drivers tell 11 News the stretch of I-25 near Cimarron is dangerous.
"I personally think the speed limit is too high through that area. I just feel like it could go down a bit from Bijou down to Tejon," said Gay Mayles.
"The lanes getting smaller, less lanes, I think that's what the problem is," said Joey Bloomquist.
This is the third major accident in the same area within the last few months.
