A lockdown in the Huerfano County School District has been lifted Thursday morning, one day after a fugitive was spotted in the area.
Robel Turcios-Rodriguez, 26, escaped from the Costilla County Jail earlier this month. He was being held on human smuggling charges.
The district received a reverse 911 call at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to lock all doors and windows. All buses were cancelled.
A spokesperson with the district tells 11 News that the district was still on lockdown when students first arrived, and that police were present. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Anyone with information on Turcios-Rodriguez's whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 719-738-1600.
