After being closed for a little over a year, the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon City will open Saturday for the holiday weekend.
The Royal Gorge fire in the summer of 2013 burned 90% of the 360 acre park and 48 out of 52 buildings. Crews have been working for months to repair and rebuild.
The park is being rebuilt in phases. This is phase one. The park will closed again September 2-5 so crews can finish up the last few details of phase one before opening on a daily basis Sept 6.
Guests will be able to walk and drive across the bridge and stand 956 feet above the Arkansas River.
A new and improved visitor's center has also been built and the Rush Skycoaster will also be running again.
A grand opening is scheduled for May 2015, after more buildings and attractions are rebuilt.
Bridge only tickets during Phase One are $16.00 for adults and seniors, $11.00 for children ages 4 to 11. Kids 3 and under are free.
The Royal Rush Skycoaster is $25 per one rider, $45 for two, and $60 for three.
