A FLASH FLOOD WATCH remains in effect for all of southern Colorado throughout our evening and overnight on Tuesday. Storms will continue to be an issue, capable of producing heavy rain with very slow movement. Storms look to mainly favor north and east of areas like Colorado Springs and the Waldo Canyon area, but storms cannot be ruled out still in this area. The 11 Breaking Weather team will be monitoring conditions closely. This Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 6pm Wednesday, where another day of thunderstorms is possible. A crash on Briargate Parkway closed westbound lanes and sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning.
Police tell 11 News that the driver lost control when rounding a curve just west of Chapel Hills Drive on Briargate Parkway. The car flipped, trapping one of the occupants.
Firefighters had to extricate that person from the car. Neither people were seriously hurt, but both were taken to the hospital to be treated.
Police believe alcohol played a role in the accident and the driver is now facing DUI related charges.
