Locally heavy rain will remain possible overnight, with any showers and storms. Areas likely to see additional heavy rain will likely be east of I-25 and along HWY 50 from Canon City eastward. A crash on Briargate Parkway closed westbound lanes and sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning.
Police tell 11 News that the driver lost control when rounding a curve just west of Chapel Hills Drive on Briargate Parkway. The car flipped, trapping one of the occupants.
Firefighters had to extricate that person from the car. Neither people were seriously hurt, but both were taken to the hospital to be treated.
Police believe alcohol played a role in the accident and the driver is now facing DUI related charges.
