Employees at a Springs McDonald's are safe after a close encounter with an armed robber.

Police say the suspect walked into a McDonald's on Voyager just before 2 a.m. Friday, went straight to the counter and held out a plastic trash bag. Police say he demanded that the employees put money in the bag, then pulled up his shirt to show off a handgun tucked in waistband.

The employees ran to the back of the restaurant. The suspect took off empty-handed. Police dogs searched the area, but were unable to locate him.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, wearing a green hoodie and baseball cap. A camo bandana concealed his face.
