Restaurant Break-in Caught On Camera

A criminal is captured on camera breaking into a restaurant, hoping to score some cash. He didn't get any, but the crime has managers frustrated.

It happened early Wednesday morning at Panino's, in downtown Colorado Springs.

A surveillance camera captured a man walking down the street and stopping in front of the restaurant. He looks in the window, and when he thinks no one is watching, he throws a rock through the glass door and goes inside.

Once inside, the camera catches him looking through drawers. He's inside for only 30 seconds before he takes off.

"Didn't find anything but two empty deposit bags, so he took those and ran out," said assistant manager James Hunt.

Hunt says they never leave cash in the registers overnight.

The crime only took seconds, but in that short amount of time the suspect did some damage.

"He did damage to our front door, expensive front door that we just put in a couple months ago," said Hunt. "It is very frustrating."

The door will be fixed soon. In the meantime, Hunt hopes that someone recognizes the man in the surveillance video and calls police.

If you have any information that might help police, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
