Colorado Springs police are working to find the person responsible for a shooting at a south side hotel.
Just before 6:30 p.m., a man was shot in the parking lot at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on South Circle near I-25. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators are working to learn who the shooter may be. They told 11 News they believe neither the victim nor the suspect were staying at the hotel, but couldn't explain why they may have been in the parking lot.
11 News was first on scene as investigators searched for bullet holes in the walls and casings on the ground. A section of the parking lot behind the hotel was blocked off to everyone as police conducted their investigation.
Right now, Springs police are working to find out more about how this all started.
"(Officers are) still doing interviews of the victim and friends of the victim. I don't think anybody's in danger at the hotel and at this point we don't see an immediate tie to the hotel," Colorado Springs Sgt. Pamela Castro said.
Detectives don’t know if the shooter and the victim know each other. You can trust 11 News to follow this story and update you as information becomes available.
If you have any information about the shooter or this incident, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers, you don't have to give your name and it could earn you a cash reward. The number is 634-STOP.
