Flood repair work on Old Stage Road is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
Until then, El Paso County says the road will remain closed.
The southwest side of the Springs was hammered by rain in September 2013, getting more than a foot of rain in some places. Portions of Old Stage Road were washed out by flooding, while other sections remain in tact but still severely damaged. The county says contractors are rebuilding and repairing the road, replacing culverts and doing other work to make sure the road is safe for use.
Contractors with the county are expected to start work in mid-to-late June. The U.S. Forest Service has also employed contractors to do repair work on the road.
