Demolition work at Royal Gorge Park is now 85 percent complete.
On Monday a spokesperson told 11 News that means construction on the new park could begin as early as next week. They hope to have the first phase of the brand new version of the park open in May of 2014.
The Royal Gorge Fire destroyed 48 of the facility's 52 buildings when it swept through beginning on June 11th. Damage is in the millions, though the iconic suspension bridge itself had only minor damage.
The bridge remains closed because the entire park is a construction zone. The spokesperson told 11 News that 100 to 200 potential visitors are turned away every day.
