RV Fires at Storage Facility Now Investigated As Accident

Ten to 15 RVs and a boat were damaged in a fire at a RV lot Friday morning.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is now investigating the fire as accidental.

11 News talked to investigators Friday afternoon. Right now they are not considering arson as a possible cause; they are not even calling the fire "suspicious". However, the investigation continues.

Initial reports to 11 News was the they were investigating the fire as possible arson, after the fire department spotted suspicious people hanging around the storage facility. The Sheriff's Office interviewed those people. No arrests have been made.

The fire started around 4 a.m. at Peak View Storage in the area of Paonia Street and Terminal Drive, which is east of Powers, in between Galley and Platte on the far eastern side of Colorado Springs.

The fire began in one RV and then spread. Firefighters were able to get in under control less than two hours after it was first reported.

Authorities on scene say some of the vehicles are a total loss, while others sustained moderate damage.
