A murder case involving jealousy, drugs and a suspect who reported himself to 911 continues to move towards a trial.
Suspect Daniel Baker, 30, will return to court Friday. Baker is charged with first-degree murder for the death of 21-year-old Nicholas Carpenter in Pueblo back in April.
Baker claims self-defense in Carpenter's death, telling police he was helping a friend move out of her home when the friend's boyfriend showed up. That boyfriend and two companions--Carpenter being one--began fighting with him, kicking and punching him in the head, according to Baker, who said he pulled out a weapon to protect himself.
The two surviving shooting victims, 33-year-old Benjamin Williams and 29-year-old Joshua Fenderbosch, acknowledged a fight broke out between them and Baker, but that Baker continued shooting even after the fight was over. Both men were injured in the shooting.
