Pueblo Police Warn About New Scam

By  |

Pueblo police are warning residents about a possible scam.

The Police Department has received a number of calls from people who say they have received a call from someone claiming to be with a computer company, usually Microsoft or Hotmail, warning them that their computer might have a virus. The caller will then reportedly direct the recipient to a website, where the caller is given remote access of their computer.

Police say that once the caller has remote access of an individual's computer, the caller can access anything he or she wants from that computer.

Most of those who have contacted police say that the caller has a foreign accent.

If you receive a call similar to this, police say to be cautious about proceeding, and to never give out personal information.
