Phoenix police were seeking the gunman who shot a priest to death and critically wounded another Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson Steve Martos tells CBS News officers responded to a "burglary" in the living quarters of a church just after 9 p.m. AZCentral.com reports it occurred at the Mother of Mercy Mission in the Capitol District.
The caller was actually the surviving victim, who was rushed to a hospital, Martos told CBS News. His wound apparently wasn't from a bullet.
The other victim was pronounced at a hospital, Martos said
A Mazda Tribute belonging to one of the priests was stolen but found a short time later, he added.
No motive was known early Thursday.
Names of victims haven't been released.
