Juvenile mischief wreaked havoc on drivers at the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Brainard Drive in Briargate Monday night.
A driver was going through the intersection at 11:15 p.m. Monday when the car struck plastic wrap strung across the road. The driver wasn’t hurt, but the impact cracked the car’s windshield. The victim spotted the suspects and called police.
"What seems like harmless fun at one point and just a little fun and game can have deadly or serious consequences," said Sgt. Darrin Abbink with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
One Briargate resident tells 11 News this isn't the first time he has seen plastic wrap strung across the intersection right outside his neighborhood.
"A couple of times in the morning I have seen the wrapping already hanging," said Rafael, who drives through the intersection everyday.
When police arrived at the scene, five boys, all minors, admitted that they strung plastic wrap across the road as a prank. Further investigation uncovered several more rolls of plastic wrap in a nearby vehicle.
All five were served a summons for criminal mischief and then released to their parents.
