An overnight standoff has ended in the arrest of a burglary suspect.

Police say the suspect, identified as John Linebaugh, was trying to hide from officers in a mobile home on Cascade Court. About six hours after it started, police say Linebaugh walked out and surrendered.

Officers reportedly tracked Linebaugh to the Cascade Court address after he allegedly burglarized a Hobby Lobby on Woodmen early Saturday morning. A vehicle associated with the burglary was seen in the mobile home park, tipping officers off.

Police say they had already been watching Linebaugh prior to the Hobby Lobby burglary, having ID'd him as part of a group accused of burglarizing several stores in Colorado Springs. Police say they wee conducting surveillance on the group when Linebaugh first unsuccessfully tried breaking into a business, then successfully burglarized the Hobby Lobby.

During the standoff, which started around 4 a.m., neighbors in the immediate area of Cascade Court were asked to evacuate. A police sergeant tells 11 News the evacuation of neighbors is standard procedure in a SWAT situation.

During the six-hour standoff, SWAT established containment and tried to communicate with Linebaugh via megaphone. Our crew at the scene says that a spotlight could be seen on the home Linebaugh thought to be was in.

In addition to SWAT, a CSPD K-9 team also responded to the scene. Police credit the K-9 unit, SWAT and all the police officers who responded for safely bringing Linebaugh into custody.
