UPDATE: Fountain Police Say Standoff Over

By: KKTV
By: KKTV

Fountain Police say an overnight standoff ended around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officers tell us the situation ended peacefully and without injuries.

Police say the man is a 39-year-old veteran and that a military liaison helped end the standoff. The man was not arrested, and police say no criminal charges will be filed.

It started Monday night and police were on the scene all night.

Police sent out a reverse 911 call to neighbors within a half mile radius of a home on the 7600 block of Duck Hawk Place in Fountain. That house is in the Cross Creek subdivision.

We are working with police and will have more details as they become available.

That situation wasn't about fountain PD having power it was about helping a guy that was obviously having some issues and fountain PD did their jobs not all situations end with an arrest and this was one of those cases that I'm sure they felt the compassion to help instead of throw him in jail and ad to his problems. Props to all that were on scene you all did a very good job to diffuse a difficult situation

I'm happy the man is ok and hope he gets the help he needs. I'm shocked that no arrests were made, come on, were talking about Fountain Police, they thrive on using their power..

I know it's frustrating to some as to why all those resources were used on one individual. The reverse 9-1-1 is used as a precautionary measure to protect the neighbors so that IF something criminal happens, they are as safe as they can be. Gail, as a law enforcement agency, they cannot just "let him be"; they have a legal, ethical and moral responsibility to the citizen in crisis as well as to the community. Nic made a few good points. Last week, CSPD had a similar situation with a female party who barricaded herself inside her home and the Tactical Enforcement Unit had to be called out and thankfully, that too ended peacefully with no casualties. Sadly, this city/county has the highest suicide rate in the country. Hopefully this man will get the help he needs without losing everything.

Look this guy could have had someone in the house with him, which he could have harmed! I realize that soldiers go through things mentally but the guy needed to be seen by a therapist and taking away at that time. ofcourse really though if someone really wants to commit suicide they would not tell anyone. This was a cry for help! And for all of you that believe the police should stay out of it come one they are just doing their job!

Really Gail, Really!!! leave him alone.? You are a shallow self absorbed person. do you not value human life? he was asking for help. Praise the lord he is going to get it now!Show compassion for your fellow man. Prayers to this man, and his family. but most of all I will say prayers for you Gail. You obviously need them also. Good job Military Liason and Fountain PD

so if they don't think it is a criminal affair, why did they sent out a reverse 911 call telling people to lock their doors and shut off lights?

To gail, what if they did leave him alone and perhaps he harms neighbors etc then people would say police didn't do enough, good job fountain pd, EPCS And all who are on scene to keep the general public safe. Its their job to take precautions in situations like this, they are doing their job well.
