Denver police say they have learned the identity of a suspect seen on a YouTube video of people leaving a shooting at a marijuana celebration that wounded two people and scattered a crowd of thousands.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says they're not releasing the man's name because he's not in custody. He was reportedly questioned by police Monday, and then he was released.
Thousands of people were gathered at Civic Center Park for the annual 4/20 pot rally Saturday when gunfire erupted, scattering the crowd and injuring two people.
According to witnesses, 10 shots rang out just before 5 p.m., turning the jovial atmosphere into a chaotic one. Several people reported thinking firecrackers were being set off until a man fell, bleeding and screaming in pain. His dog was also shot.
A second person was also shot. Both are expected to survive.
Police had been planning on heightened security at Saturday's event in the wake of the attack on the Boston Marathon. The annual marijuana celebration was expected to attract as many as 80,000 people, as it was the first 4/20 event following pot legalization last fall.
Police say they don't know a motive for the shooting at this time.
