Stolen Vehicle, Gun Recovered; May Be Related To Earlier Police Chase

Police are investigating whether there is a connection between two incidents near Garden of the Gods and Centennial early Monday morning.

In the first incident, a driver allegedly refused to stop after police tried to pull him over near Fillmore and Beacon just before midnight. Police say that as they began chasing the car, the driver slowed and let a passenger out before continuing his attempt to flee pursuing officers.

The chase ended on the 1000 block of Holli Springs Lane, where driver Luis Galvan, 20, was arrested. He faces several charges, including vehicular eluding. The passenger ran off after the driver let him or her out, and has not been located.

Several hours later, police received a call about a burglary in progress at a four-plex near where the earlier chase had ended. When officers got to the 1300 block of Holland Park Drive just after 6 a.m., they found an abandoned car. Police determined it was stolen.

Police say several other stolen items, including a stolen gun, were found inside the vehicle.

Officers searched the area for the suspect or suspects that might have left the vehicle at the four-plex. They came in contact with one person, but later determined that person was not a suspect.

Police told 11 News that there may be a connection between the recovered stolen car and the earlier chase, but have not definitively confirmed a link.
