Colorado Springs police have arrested a man on felony charges in a neighborhood near Stetson Hills Blvd. and Peterson Road.

It all started around 5 p.m. Thursday when police got a call that a woman wasn't being allowed to leave a man's car, and she was getting hit.

"Help, he is killing me," police say a witness overheard.

The witness told police the woman was struggling, trying to kick the door, while the man held her down.

A few hours later, officers tracked the suspect to a nearby neighborhood, where they spotted his car. Police said they narrowed their search down to the neighborhood after receiving a call from another witness regarding a disturbance at a Walmart off Austin Bluffs. The vehicle description matched the one from the earlier domestic call.

The neighborhood was forced to go on lockdown while officers dealt with the situation. Police say they rescued the woman and then arrested the suspect after he went through the back door of a house and tried to hide.

The suspect has been identified as Robert Leck, 48. He faces charges of kidnapping in the second-degree and assault in the third-degree.

Police say Leck knew the woman. She was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Officers thank the people who stepped forward when they saw something was amiss and reported to police.
