Victims In Park Shooting To Recover; Police Still Searching For Suspects

Police are still searching for two men who opened fire at a local park last weekend. It happened near Fountain and Chelton in the southeast part of Colorado Springs.

Two men were taken to the hospital. One, who was in critical condition, has now stabilized and is expected to recover. The other victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is also expected to recover.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are still investigating this shooting and do not have suspects in custody.

Witnesses tell 11 News two victims were walking in a park when the minivan pulled up. Two men got out and started shooting the two victims.

There were kids at the park at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured.

Several witnesses jumped in to help the victims. Nicole Anderson was one of them. "He was just worried about his family. You know, it's sad."

She was with her 11-year-old daughter, Monique, at their home. It's near the park. "This is supposed to be a place for kids to have fun and be safe and play and not for things like this to happens," says Anderson.

The suspects are described as two men in their 20's or 30's. They are considered armed and dangerous and may be driving a shiny maroon minivan.
