A Springs man is being held without bond after police say he drove to his ex-wife's home armed with a machete--then set his car on fire.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday on the 600 block of Tia Juana Street, near Platte and Circle in Colorado Springs.
Police say the suspect threatened the people inside the home with a machete, then went outside to his car and lit the gas tank on fire.
Officers set up containment around the car and ordered the man to come out. He ignored them several times before finally allegedly climbing out holding the machete.
Officers ordered the suspect multiple times to drop the weapon, and say he refused. Police finally had to fire what they are calling "a less lethal round" at him to force the suspect to comply. Once he dropped the machete, he was taken into custody.
The suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Damon Turner. He faces felony charges for the incident.
