An elderly woman was conned into believing her tires were low and then robbed by the man who offered to help her.

Pueblo police believe the suspect was caught on surveillance and are asking the public for their assistance in locating him.

On July 1, police say the victim was approached by the suspect in the Albertsons parking lot on the 1500 block of South Prairie. The suspect claimed that the woman needed air in her tires, and offered to air them up with a portable tire compressor he had with him. The victim told police that he got inside her car to plug the air compressor into the cigarette lighter.

Afterwards, the victim paid the man for helping her--only to realize a short time later that she'd been robbed. Police say the suspect took a large amount of money from her purse.

The suspect has been described as an Hispanic male in his mid 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds, sporting a shaved head and goatee. He was wearing a white shirt and dark shorts at the time.

The suspect was caught on surveillance walking out of the store with a dark-haired woman in capri pants and a white t-shirt with a heart pattern on the front. It's unknown if she had any involvement with the theft.

Police ask that anyone with information on this crime call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867.
