Police Investigate Shots Fired, Possible Sex Assault

Half a dozen police cars could be seen outside an apartment complex Monday morning as officers investigated a shots fired call and possible sex assault.

Colorado Springs police said the call first came in at 5:50 a.m. Monday as a disturbance on the 3600 block of Marion Dr. That is near Galley and Academy.

Officers told the KKTV 11 News crew at the scene that a man involved in the incident was found injured a couple of blocks away on Reinhardt Drive. He was taken to the hospital. Police said he was not shot, but would not elaborate further on his injuries or how serious they are.

Police are calling him a person of interest, not a suspect.

Meanwhile, police were interviewing witnesses and a possible female victim back at the apartment complex on Marion Drive. They said it's not clear if a sex assault took place.

Police confirmed that a shot was fired inside an apartment there, and that they recovered a hand gun. No one was shot and it is unclear who fired the gun.

Police said they are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.
