Police have identified the victim in a deadly shooting over the weekend on the southeast side of Colorado Springs.
Che Orozco's death has been ruled a homicide. He was 17 years old.
Police say Orozco was among a group of people who called authorities around 2 a.m. Saturday to report gunshots in a neighborhood near Chelton and Pikes Peak. The group then reportedly got into a vehicle, and Orozco was shot as they drove away.
Investigators say the driver went to a 7-Eleven at Fountain and Chelton. When police got to the scene, Orozco was dead in the parking lot.
South Chelton was closed in both directions between East Pikes Peak Avenue and Fairmont for hours Saturday while police investigated. Hayman Court was also closed between Chelton and University.
Police have not released a suspect description, and are asking anyone with information that could help with the case to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
Orozco's death is the 11th homicide in Colorado Springs this year. Last year at this time there were 14 homicides.
