Police: Gang Behind Burglaries

More than half of the 159 victims were between 13 and 15 years old.

Investigators say a gang was behind a string of robberies in southern Colorado. Seven adults and one juvenile are now facing charges.

Nathaniel Flavio Gonzales, Gino Patrick Rael, Carlitos Juvera-Rael, Darlene Carol Gonzales, Leonard Lee Walters Jr, Kenisha Watson, and Naomi Archuleta were arrested. One juvenile male is not being named.

The are facing a variety of charges including burglary, false information to a pawn broker and theft. Investigators say they are responsible for a string of burglaries on the north side of Colorado Springs.

Investigators say the suspects would ring the doorbell of homes. If no one answered, they allegedly went to the back of the home and forced their way in through a door or window.

Investigators caught a break when an officer spotted one of the suspects back in December and recognized that person as being wanted for a residential burglary on Indianpipe Circle the day before. The officer took the suspect into custody.

Investigators were also able to determine that Gino Rael, Gonzales were involved. They were considered armed and dangerous and warrants were issued for their arrest.

The arrests were made after a joint investigation involving Colorado Springs police and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Police say they have recovered some of the stolen property, including four hand guns.

Two of the suspects were taken into custody by Walsenburg police in early January. They are Nathaniel Gonzalez and Gino Rael. A third person, was also arrested at the time.
