A man, already in jail, has been charged with aggravated robbery following an investigation into a theft at a local automatic teller machine (ATM).
On March 12, a woman was robbed at gunpoint by a man while she was at an ATM near Montebello Drive and Academy Boulevard. The man allegedly threatened her with a gun and took cash from her. He then took off in a black Honda two-door.
Detectives reviewing video footage from the ATM report they 'noted some distinctive features about the suspect.' They had no other information at that time to go on.
As they continued their investigation, they developed Dakota Salazar, 21, as a suspect in the case. He was already incarcerated in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges stemming from another case. He has been additionally charged with one count of aggravated robbery for this case.
