When a hotel clerk stepped away from the front desk for a few minutes, police say a man walked in, jumped the front counter and stole money from the cash drawer.

The burglary happened at 4 a.m. at the Ramada Inn on 520 N. Murray in Colorado Springs.

A witness was able to provide police with a suspect description, which led officers to an apartment on the 1100 block of Potter Drive, less than a mile away. Police arrested 24-year-old Paul Hernandez on burglary charges.
