Police Arrest 1 After Highway Pursuit

Police arrested one suspect allegedly involved in a highway pursuit Friday, but say the driver was able to get away.

The incident happened Friday afternoon after police were alerted that a stolen vehicle was parked at the Travel Star Inn on South Nevada in Colorado Springs.

Responding officers saw the Subaru Impreza drive down South Nevada and get onto the I-25 on-ramp. Police tried to pull the car over, but say the driver sped up and tried to get away.

Police chased the car to Mesa Ridge Parkway in Fountain before they called off the pursuit.

During the police chase, the car stopped long enough to drop a passenger off. Fountain police were handling another call in that area, and were able to contact the passenger. Police say the passenger was taken into custody after it was discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest. He has been identified as 40-year-old Richard Sanchez.

Police are still looking for the driver. The car is described as a 2005 model Impreza, with a stolen plate of 752-VWY.

If you have any information that could help police locate the car or the driver, call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
