A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Fountain police tell us a man is hospitalized after crashing his truck into Fountain Creek. We know the driver is 50 years old and police say he was not very responsive at the scene.
Officers tell us he was on Bandley Drive, which runs parallel to the interstate, when something caused him to drive off the road. He reportedly traveled 600 feet through a field, down an embankment and into the creek.
Police are not sure if he was having a medical emergency at the time of the crash, he was taken by helicopter to a local hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
