A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect at NOON and last through MIDNIGHT from most of Southern Colorado. Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain once again. Burn scars and areas that saw heavy rain yesterday will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
Three District 2 schools were put under secured perimeter status for 20 minutes Friday while police investigated reports of shots fired in the area.
The schools were Sierra High School, Centennial Elementary School and Carmel Middle School. All are in the area of Chelton and Academy.
A spokeswoman with the district said the students were never in any danger. Police were unable to find anything indicating there had been a shooting, and gave the schools the go-ahead to return to business as usual at 10:17 a.m.
