Snow showers continue this evening creating slick road conditions across southern Colorado. Overnight the N Pikes Peak Region sees a second push of moisture and locally heavy snowfall will once again be possible. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Warning for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. A single engine plane made a hard landing at Colorado Springs Airport Wednesday afternoon.
John McGinley, Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance confirmed the small plane was on approach to the airport just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. McGinley said the pilot made a hard landing, which damaged the front, right-side landing gear. The plane is described as a single-engine Columbia Aircraft based out of Colorado Springs.
McGinley said there was no in flight emergency and it was unclear why there was the hard landing.
The two people onboard were not hurt.
The incident did not affect regular operations at Colorado Springs Airport.
