Authorities are now calling an incident with a small plane a "crash."
Initial reports were that the Cessna 172 had gone too long upon landing and ended up off the runway. A spokeswoman with the Colorado Springs Fire Department now says it actually lost power on take-off and went down in a nearby field.
Two people suffered minor injuries. CSFD HAZMAT is on scene in case of fuel spill.
Airport Road is blocked east of Powers. Those needing to access Peterson Air Force Base must take the north gate.
