One person was found dead after flames broke out at an apartment in Aurora early Thursday morning--but the death wasn't a result of the fire.
Sister station KCNC says investigators are now trying to determine whether the deceased died of natural causes prior to the fire starting--or if foul play was involved. Investigators believe the person was already dead when the fire started.
A resident at the complex, who called 911, told KCNC that he heard a loud bang just before he noticed smoke.
The fire was contained to one unit on the 14000 block of East Kentucky Place. A couch blocking the door obstructed firefighters' access to the apartment, forcing them to break through to get inside.
It's unknown if anyone besides the deceased lived there.
