After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Terrifying, crazy, unexpected. Those are some of the words students are using to describe Friday's shooting at Arapahoe High School.
“There was screaming. We heard someone yell ‘help me, help me! We need help!’ After that, the entire building went silent,” one student told our sister station KCNC.
Students recalled hearing the shots, and the news spreading through the school that one of their own had been hit.
“It sounded like a trash can hitting the floor, and then we heard screams. One girl was on the floor having, like, a panic attack. I don’t even know how to react to it yet. It hasn’t hit me,” Senior Tess Albyn told KCNC.
One parent told KCNC, “I just don’t understand why it’s happening here. It’s not fair to Colorado."
Others described the frantic search for their children. Parent John Spiegel said at first he couldn't get a hold of his son. It took several hours before he finally found him.
Albyn told KCNC, “I just feel so blessed that I’m safe and that my mom is coming. I am just thinking about those people that were injured, and I can’t relate to how their families are feeling. It’s just so unexpected, and it’s just crazy."
