11 News has confirmed that a high school student at Palmer High School has been hit by a car. It's the third time a student has been hit in the last six months.

Police tell us a car was stopped at a red light while a student was crossing the road. A second car hit the one at the red light and pushed it into the student.

The accident happened near Platte and Weber in Colorado Springs.

D-11 administrators say tell 11 News that they take precautions to make sure the students know how to be safe while walking in the crosswalks.

Colorado Springs Traffic Engineers are investigating the accident, and will make recommendations to the city if they find that the crosswalks should be changed.

The driver of the vehicle who caused the accident has been cited with reckless driving.
